M5AEX

I have been licensed since August 1972 as G8GNI, but not particularly active until moving to my present QTH in the '90's. I am also licensed as M5AEX (October 1999) and am currently active on HF using SSB, RTTY and PSK31 and VHF using SSB. I have dabbled with SSTV, amateur satellites and weather satellites but prefer data modes overall. I have achieved WAC and DXCC on HF RTTY and SSB and 30 countries / 100 squares confirmed on 6 metres SSB.

My station comprises an Icom 756 Pro transceiver and an ACOM 1000 linear amplifier.  Antennas include a Steppir dipole for 10m to 20m, a homebrew two-band 'fan' dipole for 30m and 40m and a two-band Butternut vertical for 40m and 80m.  I enjoy using vintage radio receivers and regularly use my AR88 as well as a small collection of Eddystone receivers.

I have been a committee member (since 1999) of the Milton Keynes Amateur Radio Society, which is based at Bletchley Park, the World War II 'code-breaking' centre, QSL manager for the Bletchley Park Special Event station - GB2BP and RSGB QSL Bureau Sub-Manager for the G4G and M6 series of call-signs. I regularly teach the Foundation and Intermediate Licence courses.  I am also a trustee and the treasurer for the Radio Amateur Invalid and Blind Club (RAIBC)

I work for a large market research company, undertaking public policy research - mainly for government departments. I have five children, of whom one - Leo - is licensed as M3DXL
