I have been into RTTY and the datamodes since 1994, and am now heavily involved in RTTY contesting and awards chasing. I have DXCC, WAS and WAZ on RTTY. Currently on just over 260 DXCC entities worked, and most are confirmed.
You will often find me on the WARC bands on RTTY, and is most major RTTY contests.
My station comprises an Icom IC756Pro generally running slightly less than 100 watts into an Inverted L for 40/80m, a 2-ele mini-beam for 20/17/15/12/10m, and a half size G5RV for general working.
I favour MMTTY for general RTTY, and Writelog for contesting. For logging and station management, I use the DXLab Suite from Dave AA6YQ.
I do dabble on CW, but mostly only to work new ones, and I do have CW DXCC too.
I was born in 1953 in London, but have lived in Guernsey since 1974. I used to work for Guernsey Telecoms as an electronics engineer, repairing mobile phones, but Guernsey Telecoms was taken over by Cable & Wireless, and in August 2007, they decided they no longer needed me, so I was made redundant.
After almost 10 months of being "retired" (and getting used to it, plus the advantages of being at home for the DX), I managed to find employment in a small local electronics company. They employ me to scan built PCB's after the surface-mount part of the build, and correct any errors. I thoroughly enjoy this job, as it is varied, quite complex at times, and always a challenge.
I am a past president of the Guernsey Amateur Radio Society, and have also been an instructor for the new licencing scheme.
