  Roger Cook, G3LDI

Roger Cooke joined the committee in 2002. His remit was to provide technical advice. However, he was persuaded by Dick, G3URA, to become Chairman from January 2005.

Roger writes:

I was first licensed in 1956. I'm old enough to qualify for a bus pass but haven't received it yet!

My first venture in RTTY was in 1962 with a Creed 7B. I worked 132 countries and entered several contests in those days, operating with home brew SSB exciter and home brew linear, using FSK on the VFO.

I became interested in Packet Radio in 1982 and set up the first UK BBS on HF. I now run a VHF/UHF and HF BBS and will be changing to Pactor II for HF in late 2004, all being well! My call is GB7LDI on all frequencies, but I shall soon be running a DX Cluster under the call GB7RDX as well, with access via my Node, SWAR. I also run the UK Satellite Gateway, also using GB7LDI.

I'm a keen RTTY contester and use Writelog with MMTTY on a Pentium II running W98SE. I also write Data Burst for Practical Wireless and keep the BARTG flag flying that way.
