Home -> Articles Transition Constitution voting complete A REMINDER OF THE SITUATION SO FAR. The BARTG committee were concerned that DATACOM was suffering from a drastic lack of articles. The solution offered was to publish DATACOM on BARTG's web site instead of on paper. This would, in turn, lead to changes in the membership structure of BARTG and this would best be done by the introduction of a new Constitution, named the "Transition Constitution" to enable the changes to be made. BARTG members were in voted
to vote on the proposal that "the transition Constitution completely
replaces the existing Constitution". This proposal was put as a Members'
Proposal as defined in clause 11c of the existing constitution: Votes had to be posted to the BARTG secretary, G4EAN, and had to reach him by Thursday 10th May. THE RESULTS. 36 votes were received. 33 votes were In Favour of
the proposal. This means that the proposal was carried with 100% of the valid votes being In Favour of the proposal. The Transition Constitution came into effect on 12th may 2007. DISALLOWED VOTES. Three votes were disallowed: COMMENTS FROM MEMBERS. The announcement in DATACOM, Spring 2007 issue, asked for votes to be cast as "In Favour" or "Against". Some members did simply cast their vote on a QSL card or sheet of paper and return it the Secretary. Others took the opportunity to offer some comments on the situation. Here are some of the comments: "As a contester [Datacom] is like a bible to me sad to see if demise in its present form." "Being a member of several other clubs have the same problems with finding copy .. With the committee well " "look forward to using the new web site" "I agree that this is the way to go for the future" "Intends to donate in lieu of subs ..best wishes to you all" "Subs for 2007 have been paid - keep as donation." The comment from the Secretary was that he was very pleasantly surprised at the level of support and understanding for the proposal.
